• How do I broadcast from my phone?

  1. First of all you need to install our application on your phone. You can download it here or by pointing you mobile browser to http://m.bambuser.com.
  2. Start the application and press the broadcast button Options » Settings.
  3. Enter your username and password (or sign up if you don't have an account)
• How do I share broadcasts to friends only?
  Bambuser users who follow each other can share private broadcasts via the share menu. By connecting Bambuser to Facebook you can share to your friends even if they don't yet have a Bambuser account.

  Share with another Bambuser user

  To share a private broadcast with another Bambuser user:

  1. Make sure you are both following each other. The follow button is found in the user profile and on all broadcast pages. By mutually following each other's accounts, you are now recognized as friends.
  2. On a private broadcast, click share and look for the section titled "Bambuser friends" in the menu.
  3. Once shared, your friend can access the broadcast via the Feed on his or hers channel page. Provided they have notifications enabled, they will also get an email.

  Share with Facebook friends

  To share a private broadcast with specific Facebook friends simply follow these steps:

  1. Connect your Bambuser account to Facebook if you haven't done so already.

  2. Set up a private broadcast.

  3. In the share menu on the phone or via your channel page on bambuser.com you will now see an option to share to all your Facebook friend lists. If you choose to share to your Facebook friends, your private broadcast will be visible to them, but not to anyone else. A post appears on your Facebook wall and in the newsfeed. Hovering over the lock icon in the post shows who have access to it. (The lock icon is visible only to you.)

  4. To share to specific friends, you can organize them into friend lists on Facebook, read more about how to set up and organize frend lists on Facebook's help section. All your friend lists appear automatically in the Bambuser share menu.

  Friends that want to watch the broadcast will be asked to make a connection between Facebook and Bambuser to verify their identity. This ensures that your broadcasts always remain secret and viewable only by the friends you choose.

  Other ways to share

  To share a broadcast publicly, simply set your broadcast to public and follow the common sharing guide.

• How much does this cost?
  Our base service is free to consumers and non profit organisations.

  When broadcasting over the GSM/3G network, your operator might charge you for costs associated with data transfer. We recommend you to get a flat rate data contract with your operator.

  Our broadcasting applications also support Wi-Fi based access if your phone has Wi-Fi support, which might be a great alternative to the mobile network in some cases.

• Can I do Private broadcasts?
  Yes you can. Learn more about it here.

  Private broadcasts can currently only be viewed when you are logged in.

  - Embedded players will not show the private broadcasts to anybody except you.
  - There will be no posts to your 3:rd party services (Twitter, Facebook etc.) when you have activated private mode.

  To turn on private mode go to "settings" in your mobile broadcast application or our webcam broadcaster and change from public to private.

  You can also manage privacy related options such as public/private and geotags at any time on the Dashboard.

• How can I automatically update Twitter or Facebook when I broadcast
  Log in and browse to your dashboard. Click on "Connect" in the right hand column and you will find a number of social networks to share your broadcasts to.

  Click on the service you would like to connect to, such as Facebook or Twitter, and follow the instructions that appears.

  When connecting to Facebook, your broadcasts are automatically posted to your personal wall as default. You can also chose to share to any other Facebook page that you have admin rights to. If you connected to Facebook before October 2011, you may need to disconnect and reconnect in order to see all pages you have rights to.

  If you want to choose directly in the app on your phone whether to share your ongoing broadcast or not, uncheck the box next to any of the connected targets on your dashboard and you'll be able to share manually instead of automatically.

• How do I broadcast from my webcam
  You can use our Flash-based broadcaster together with your webcam or other high quality cameras.

  How to start a broadcast

  To create a live broadcast from your computer, you need a web camera and microphone, or a compatible video camera with integrated microphone. You also need an internet connection with good upload-bandwidth, and a browser with Adobe Flash-support. To start a broadcast follow these simple steps:

  1. Sign up for a Bambuser account or log in to the account you have already created.
  2. From the Dashboard, click “Webcam” in the right column and "Go live with your cam" to open the broadcaster.
  3. Allow the Bambuser broadcaster access to your camera and microphone (only necessary the first time).
  4. Select the desired camera and microphone by clicking the corresponding buttons.
  5. Click the red button to start broadcasting.

   

  Broadcast settings

  • Broadcast title. You can enter a descriptive title for your broadcast at the top of the camera preview.
  • Public/private. You can switch between broadcasting publicly and broadcasting privately. Changing this setting while broadcasting will result in a new broadcast with the new privacy setting.
  • Save on server. You can choose whether you want to archive the broadcast also for on demand viewing, or if you want it to be available live only. Changing this setting while broadcasting will result in a new broadcast.
  • Aspect ratio. You can choose between a regular 4:3 picture at 320x240 pixels, which most cameras support, or widescreen 16:9 at 512x288 pixels which may look better if your camera supports it. Changing this setting while broadcasting will result in a new broadcast with the selected resolution.

   

  Sharing

  You can share your ongoing broadcast with friends through various services you have connected to your Bambuser account. We have another help page about connecting. Simply press the Share-button next to the red button to get a list of the connected services you can share your broadcast to, depending on if your broadcast is public or private.

  In the lower right corner of the broadcaster you can find the direct short URL to your latest broadcast. If your broadcast is private, the URL will only let you and any friends you have shared the broadcast with view the broadcast. We have another help page about sharing private broadcasts.

   

  Geotagging

  While broadcasting, you can geotag your broadcast with your current location by clicking "get position", which will try to locate you based on your computer's Internet connection. This only works in modern browsers, and the accuracy may vary depending on your computer and Internet connection type.

  You can also manually set or adjust the location for a broadcast on each broadcast page. Simply open the Overview tab on a broadcast page and drag the marker on the map to set the location. Zoom in on the map to set the location more accurately.

  You can remove geotags from your broadcasts on your Dashboard.

   

  Chat

  You can close or open the chat in the broadcaster by clicking the Chat-button in the upper right corner. You can moderate the chat by muting unwanted participants. Click on the name for a person to bring up their information, and click mute to prevent them from writing in your chat.

   

  Advanced settings

  You can adjust some advanced video and audio settings by clicking the Settings-button at the top right corner.

  Video

  • Camera picture vs. broadcast picture. While broadcasting, you can choose whether you want to preview the picture directly from your camera, or if you want to view the actual broadcast video the same way your viewers see it.
  • Frame rate. You can adjust the broadcast frame rate. A higher frame rate can result in a smoother video but produces more data and requires faster Internet connections, both from you and to your viewers. Not all frame rates may be supported by all cameras.
  • Quality. The quality setting affects the video compression used. A higher quality will provide more detail, but produces much more data and requires faster Internet connections both from you and to your viewers.

  Audio

  • Audio monitor. Enable this to listen to the recorded audio. To avoid acoustic feedback, we recommend that you use headphones instead of speakers.
  • Echo filter. Enable this filter to try to eliminate any acoustic feedback.
  • Audio frequency. You can adjust the audio sample rate, which affects the audio quality. A higher sample rate can record higher audio frequencies, but results in more data and requires faster Internet connections. Possible sample rates range from 11 to 44 kHz, but the quality of the microphone is often the limiting factor.
  • Volume. You can adjust the volume level if the microphone input is too low or too high. The VU-meter below the gauge displays the microphone activity.
• Remove a broadcast?
  You can remove your videos in your dashboard or on the specific video page.

  Before removing your broadcast be sure it is what you want to do. Removing a broadcast is a final action and can not be reverted.

  Remove from the dashboard:

  1. Log in and go to your dashboard
  2. Click on the tab "Your broadcasts"
  3. Next to each video you will find an option called "remove"- click it.
  4. When asked "Are you sure you want to remove this video" - click yes.

  Remove from the video page:

  1. Make sure you are logged in as the broadcast owner and browse to the video page looking like this bambuser.com/v/XXXXX
  2. In the square to the left there should be a link called "Remove broadcast" - click it.
  3. When asked "Are you sure you want to remove this video" - click yes.

• Can I allow unrestricted chat on my channel?
  All Bambuser chat rooms require login by default. Should you, prefer to have an unrestricted chat, you can change this on the dashboard

  To allow unrestricted chat, simply go to your dashboard and find Customize your player under settings in the right column.

  The "Chat" and "Require login to post in chat room" check boxes are checked by default but you can choose to clear "Require login to post in chat room" and your viewers can post in the chat without logging in. You can also disable chat and comments entirely by clearing the Chat room check box.

• Can I change my password?
  Yes, this can be done on the dashboard.

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to your dashboard.
  3. Click on the "Security"-tab in the menu on the right hand side.
  4. Enter your new password in both fields.
  5. When you have set your new password click “Save”

• Can I watch Bambuser broadcasts on my phone?
  Yes, you most likely can. We support viewing of live and on demand broadcasts on many devices.

  To watch a broadcast you simply use the browser on your device to open a Bambuser link or navigate manually to a broadcast page, and the live or on-demand video will start playing in the native video player of your device. To get a mobile friendly list of broadcasts you can also go to http://bambuser.com/m.

  Viewing on mobile phones is still in beta and at the moment viewing should be working on any iOS, Android or Symbian device. It may also work on some Blackberry and Windows Mobile phones and even on many lower end phones.

  Wirecast

  Wirecast is a widely recognized live broadcasting tool. It is really easy to learn and has great CPU optimization so your productions always runs smooth. You can do a lot with Wirecast and it runs both on Windows as well as on Mac.

  Instructions on how to use Wirecast with Bambuser

  Download and install Wirecast. Commercial product (demo version available).

  Recent versions of Wirecast (v4.1.4 and newer) has knowledge of Bambuser and lets you enter your username and password directly within Wirecast (go to Broadcast->Broadcast settings). For older versions, follow the remaining steps:

  1. Download your authentication profile. Keep it safe, anyone with this file can broadcast to your account.
  2. In Wirecast, click Broadcast->Broadcast settings, select a Flash compatible preset and click "Open Flash Media Encoder Configuration File" to load your authentication profile.
  3. Configure audio and video and start broadcasting!

  

  Vidblaster

  Vidblaster is a simple video production tool which is integrated with Bambuser. You can make great live video productions with multiple-cameras, pre-recorded video, audio and graphics. Windows only.

  Instructions on how to use VidBlaster with Bambuser

  Download and install VidBlaster. Commercial product (demo version available).

  1. Within VidBlaster, enable the Streamer-module and right click on it.
  2. In the Stream to-submenu, select "CDN: Bambuser.com".
  3. In the Server settings-submenu, set "Channel" and "Username" to your Bambuser credentials.
  4. Configure audio and video and click "Start" in the Streamer-module to start a new broadcast!

  

  Flash Media Live Encoder

  Flash Media Encoder doesn't hold the great features of multi-cam, audio and video graphics of the two earlier mentioned but it gives you as a producer complete control over your streaming and has more options related to the encoding and stream latency. Windows and Mac.

  Webcam Studio is free tool for GNU/Linux user who would like to be in control of their webcam. It produces a virtual webcam that can be used on sites like Bambuser. It allows you to use and mix several video sources.

• How can I make a recording without an internet connection?
  On select platforms, currently Android, iOS, Maemo and MeeGo, it is possible to save a recording to the phone and upload it to Bambuser at a later time when internet connectivity is available.

  1. Launch the Bambuser app.
  2. Toggle the switch labeled 'live' to 'rec'.
  3. Press the record button to start recording. When you are done recording, press it once more to stop recording.
  4. The upload badge now indicates that you have a new recording to be uploaded. Navigate to the list of items to upload by pressing the button where the upload badge resides.
  5. Before you begin uploading your broadcast, you can edit the title and private/public-setting by tapping on the upload item. Once upload has been started, these settings can only be edited on your dashboard page when uploading is complete.
  6. Tap on the upload-button to start uploading your recording to bambuser.com

  

  Android

  1. Launch the Bambuser app.
  2. Bring up the menu and switch to "Offline mode"
  3. Press the record button to start recording offline.
  4. When you are done recording, press stop. The upload badge now indicates that you have a new recording to upload.
  5. Navigate to the list of unsent data by pressing the Upload-button.
  6. You can edit the title, username and private/public-setting of before you start uploading your broadcasts. When upload of a broadcast has been started once, these settings can no longer be edited in the app, but can be edited on your dashboard page when the upload is complete.
  7. You can choose whether to upload all unsent data at once or just a particular broadcast.

  

• How do I download my broadcasts
  Log in and find download links for each video on the dashboard under the tab "Your broadcasts", or by clicking the Download broadcast link on each video page.

• How do I embed my broadcasts on other sites?
  Find the correct embed code from either someone's profile page or a specific broadcast page. Paste it into a website or blogging tool that allows HTML to be entered.

  There are a few different ways to generate the embed code depending on what you want to do, described as A-C below.

  A. Your own customized player

  This player always shows your most recent content; your live broadcasts if one is ongoing right now, or your latest archived broadcast otherwise.

  Make sure you are logged in.

  1. Log in to your Bambuser account.
  2. Go to your dashboard.
  3. Under Settings, choose Embed your player.
  4. Customize layout and size according to your needs.
  5. Click Copy to get the HTML embed code for your player.
  6. Open an editor for your blog or website
  7. Paste the embed code you copied from Bambuser and store the changes.

  

  B. A specific video

  Go to the broadcast page, click the share button below the video. Use the code found in the field labeled "Embed this broadcast".

  

  C. Somebody else's channel

  You can also embed somebody else's channel. Go to their profile page and look for the embed code in the left column.

  

• How do I geotag my videos?
  Geotagging is available on all modern smartphone platforms and can be enabled on the Settings screen.

  Enabling geotagging of your broadcasts

  Symbian S60 v3 and higher

  Activate geotagging by going to "Options", "Settings" and switching "Send position" to "Yes". This will use all positioning methods that your device supports.

  iPhone

  Activate geotagging by going to "Settings" and switching "Send position" to "On". This will use all positioning methods that your device supports.

  Android

  Activate geotagging by going to "Settings" and checking "Broadcast location". This will use all positioning methods that your device supports.

  Windows Mobile

  Activate geotagging by going to "Options", "Settings" and checking "Send position". This will use GPS if your device supports it.

  Maemo

  Activate geotagging by going to "Settings" and check "Send location". This will use all positioning methods that your device supports.

  bada

  Activate geotagging by going to "Settings" and enable "Send geo-location". This will use all positioning methods that your device supports.

  Flash broadcaster

  Click the button labeled 'get position' to geotag your broadcast with your current position. This requires a browser which supports the W3C Geolocation API.

  Editing geotags

  The stored location for your broadcast can be edited by dragging the "b"-pin on the map in the location overview on your broadcast page. The location can also be removed completely by clicking the red 'X' next to the coordinates on your broadcast page or on the list of broadcasts on your dashboard page.

  Geotagging explained

  Bambuser supports two different ways to pinpoint your broadcasts geographically.

  Network based positioning

  Modern smartphone platforms (S60 v3, iPhone, Android) can take advantage of the cell network, and some devices with WiFi can also rely on known wireless networks, to determine your location without using GPS. The accuracy of network based positioning is often lower than GPS based positioning, but it is usually faster. Roughly knowing the position you are broadcasting from might be just as valuable information to your viewers as a more exact location. It is a good complement on phones with built-in GPS, as getting GPS positioning may take a while.

  Since this functionality is dependent on the cell network, it might not work with all carriers.

  GPS based positioning

  Modern smartphone platforms (S60 v3, iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile) also have support for GPS. If your phone has a GPS device, Bambuser automatically uses both network based positioning and GPS based positioning to get an as accurate position as possible.

  It usually takes a little while to get GPS lock and you seldom get position inside buildings. AGPS is a technology that takes care of a lot of these issues. If you have a handset without AGPS out of the box (such as the N95 with 1.0 firmware) we strongly recommend you check if there are firmware upgrades providing this. Also, make sure AGPS is configured with the proper data access point.

• How do I install Bambuser on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch?

  Our mobile broadcasting application for Apple's iOS-devices is available in two variants. We recommend the much newer App Store version.

  Download via App Store

  Since December 17 2009, Bambuser for iOS is available in Apple's App Store.
  Click here to open iTunes and install the app, or just search for "Bambuser" in the App Store on your device.
  The app supports iPhones, iPads and iPods that have a camera and iOS 4.3 or higher.

   

  Download via Cydia

  An older version is available through the Cydia application installer on jailbroken iPhones. This version is only recommended for iPhone OS 3.0 and older.

• How do I install Bambuser on bada?
  Open Samsung Apps and download it, or search for Bambuser in Samsung Apps on your bada phone.

  Bambuser for Samsung's bada platform can only be installed from Samsung Apps, either through Kies or directly through Samsung Apps on your mobile phone.

  If you have installed older versions named "BambuserBDC" in Samsung Apps, you may want to uninstall that app manually, as the latest versions are simply named "Bambuser" and will therefore not replace the old app.

   

  Install using Samsung Kies on your computer

  If you want to install Bambuser through Samsung Kies, you can browse Samsung Apps on your computer and click "Get".

  Install using Samsung Apps on your phone

  If you want to install Bambuser directly on your phone, launch Samsung apps and search for Bambuser.

• How do I share individual broadcasts to Facebook, Twitter etc.?
  Connect to your preferred service on the Dashboard and clear "Post broadcasts automatically" to only share individual broadcasts using "Share" on your phone.

  Connecting and disabling automatic posting

  First connect to the service of your choice, such as Facebook or Twitter, on your Dashboard.

  If you don't want to automatically share every broadcast to the service, clear the checkbox for "post broadcast automatically".

  Sharing specific broadcasts

  To Share a particular broadcast to your connected services, you can use the Share menu in your mobile broadcaster, or by clicking on Share next to the broadcast on your Dashboard.

• How do I tag a broadcast?
  A broadcast can be tagged by adding them from the share menu, by using the Add tags-button on each video page or using hash tags in the broadcast title.

  Using tags is a good way for you to show and share interesting parts in your broadcasts. It is also a good way to categorize broadcasts and make them related to other interesting videos on Bambuser.

  A broadcast may be tagged in several ways:

  1. Via the share menu in the app
     It is possible to add custom or predefined tags to a broadcast directly from the mobile application's share menu while broadcasting live. The same share menu can also be found on your Dashboard and in the Flash broadcaster.
  2. On the broadcast page
     As long as the broadcast owner allows public tagging and you are logged in to bambuser.com it is possible to add tags on other Bambuser user's broadcasts. This can be done on the broadcast page by pressing the Add tag-button and typing one or several tags separated by a ",". A tag can be positioned to a specific place in time by either typing in a custom time or changing the player's current position. (The time can be entered as seconds or by using SI-units like 1h3min3s). A saved time tag is marked with a clock symbol and can be pressed to seek to the specified time.
  3. Using hash tags in the broadcast title
     If you want to add one or several tags to your broadcast right from the start simply add a hash tag, "#" before the words you wish to be used as tags. The title "My little #pony #horse" adds the tags "pony" and "horse" to the broadcast automatically.

  When a tag is added to a live broadcast a notification is sent to the broadcaster. A mail will also be sent when a tag has been added or updated by someone else than the broadcast owner. The mail notifications can be removed by changing the mail settings.

  You can chose not to allow public tagging by unchecking the "Tags" checkbox on your Dashboard under the tab Customize your player. You can still add tags yourself.

  Broadcast owners are able to remove all or individual tags added to a broadcast. This is done by pressing the Remove all tags-button or by pushing Edit, (symbolised with a pencil) and then the Remove tag-button from the dialogue.

• How much can I broadcast?
  We currently don't have any limits!
  Read more

  There are currently no limits on how long you can broadcast, how much you can broadcast or for how long the material is stored. Your material will stay available in your account for as long as you wish. If this ever changes, we'll let you know in a newsletter. We currently only delete inappropriate or illegal material which is against our terms of use.

  We do recommend that you keep your broadcasts relatively short, which makes it easier for viewers to find the interesting parts. If you are going to broadcast continuously, you can disable the "archive" flag on your broadcast or remove the broadcasts afterwards in order to keep only interesting and valuable material.

  There are no limits to the number of viewers, and we don't limit the viewing quality in any way for free accounts either. Our system can handle thousands of simultaneous viewers on any broadcast.

• How to follow other Bambuser users
  To follow someone you need to be logged in to Bambuser. Browse to the channel page of the user you want to follow and click on the "Follow" button in the right column.

  As an example, if you wanted to follow Bambuser Co-founder Jonas Vig you would browse to bambuser.com/channel/jonny and hit the follow button.

  By default you will then get a notification each time Jonas goes live. The notification will be sent to the email address you used when signing up to Bambuser. Any activity from your followers will also appear in the Feed-tab on your own channel page.

  You can disable email notifications via your dashboard under email settings if you want to.

• I get very low framerate and / or the audio is breaking up, can I improve the flow?
  Select "better flow" in settings on the mobile phone and / or lower the audio quality.
  Read more

  The flow of the stream mostly depends on the speed of the connection to the internet. In order to get a better flow, you can try to lower the amount of data per video frame;

  1. Open the Bambuser application on your device.
  2. Choose Options » Settings.
  3. Set the Video quality slider to "better flow" as it consumes less data (but generates a lower quality image).
  4. Adjust the Video size. We suggest you use no more than 320x240 pixels when having decent 3G coverage.
     
     If the broadcast application indicates a speed of 20000 bytes/s or less, or the stream health indicator goes below 50%, you might want to go down to a lower resolution such as 176x144
  5. Press OK.

  To get better flow on your archived on-demand video, make sure you have the complement functionality enabled, which can improve the archived video significantly. The complement function can be found under Options/Settings in the Bambuser application.

• What are the keys to a high quality webcam stream?
  There are many ways to improve the quality of your webcam broadcast.

  First of all make sure you have a good internet connection with enough bandwidth. You can check how much bandwidth you are getting through e.g. www.speedtest.net.

  To improve your quality even more you can use different kinds of stand alone apps such as
  
  Wirecast
  Vidblaster
  Flash Media Live Encoder
  
  Those different application provides you with more quality tweaking features. There are several tutorials on those application on their respective sites.

  At last just some basic recomendations. Lowering the quality setting or video bitrate will improve video smoothness. If your picture quality is poor, you may consider investing in a higher quality camera. Also try adjusting your lighting. Digital cameras need a lot of light, and video will begin to appear grainy in dark conditions.

• What is unsent complement data?
  Some data may temporarily be stored on your phone if your connection is slow while broadcasting live. Upload this data afterwards to smooth out the archived broadcast.

  Being truly LIVE is the most important aspect of Bambuser broadcasting, and our mobile applications are therefore written to adapt to the varying upload speed of mobile networks. If broadcasting using the chosen quality settings produces more data than your connection can send live, parts of the data may be stored temporarily on your phone instead. This allows us to keep latency at an absolute minimum at all times while you are live and still provide smooth video for later viewing.

  The stream health concept

  Our newer applications include a stream health bar showing how much data is actually sent live. A high stream health suggests that most or all of the data is sent live, and your viewers get a smooth experience. A low stream health suggests that your connection is not fast enough for the quality settings you have chosen and your viewers may experience choppy video.

  If your network connection is very fast and your stream health is constantly high, it suggests that it could handle even better quality video, and you can consider raising the video quality under Settings. You may of course use as low settings as you wish, to conserve bandwidth, which can be useful if your mobile data contract has a monthly data limit.

  Unsent complement data

  If some data can not be sent live, it can be stored in your phone, provided that you have the feature enabled. This data is not in any way a complete recording, but only contains parts that weren't sent live, a complement to the live broadcast. This means that it doesn't occupy any more space than necessary.

  Uploading unsent data

  You may upload any stored unsent data at any time after broadcasting live. The mobile application contains a list of any unsent data, where you can choose whether to complete a particular broadcast right now, upload everything at once or delete data you no longer need (for example if you have already removed the archived broadcast).

  When you have uploaded the unsent data for a broadcast, our servers will combine the live-data with the uploaded data, put all the data in the right order and create a smoother broadcast that can be viewed on demand.

• What speed internet connection do I need to stream on Bambuser?
  A broadband connection is generally recommended, however you can broadcast live video on Bambuser with as little as 100kbps of upload bandwidth.

  You can easily close your account under settings. Note that it's a permanent operation!

  2. Click on “Close Account” button, and follow the instructions.

  Note that this is a permanent operation. Once the account is closed it can't be opened again and all your broadcasts will be lost. For privacy reasons, nobody will be able to use this username in the future.

  2. Go down to your Settings box on your right. Click on the "Customize your player"-tab
  3. Choose to disable or enable your chat (this means that people will not be able to chat with you in your embedded player or on bambuser.com).
  4. Decide whether or not you demand chat participants to be logged in to Bambuser or Facebook to be able to chat.
  5. Choose if public tagging (logged in users only) should be available for your broadcasts.
  6. Choose your color of your player to match your blog or web site.
  7. Click “Save” to save your new settings

  Installation guide

  1. Download the and install FMLE from Adobe. You will need to sign up for a free Adobe account to access the download.
  2. Download your XML authentication profile from your Dashboard page. In the right column in the "Start a broadcast" section, click "Standalone desktop app", then click Flash Media Live Encoder to find a link to the file. This file contains your personal connection and authentication information. Anyone who has this file can broadcast to your account - keep it safe!
  3. Open FMLE and load your profile (File -> Open profile)
  4. Tweak the audio and video sources and encoding settings if needed. We recommend keeping the total bitrate around 400 Kbps (FMLE calculates this for you automatically in the lower middle part of the window).
  5. Make sure to check the "auto adjust" option in the right box to keep the broadcast latency low.
  6. Click on the big green "Start" button to start the broadcast.

  If you're using Bambuser and FMLE from a company, university or public network, there might be a firewall (or enforced proxy) blocking access to certain ports on remote servers, Bambuser might not be fully functional for you. Below is described which port your phone or computer tries to connect to in different situations:

• Installation fails due to certificate date or security check issues. What to do?
  Check that the phone's current time is set correctly.

  "Certificate validity dates do not match with the phone's date. Check your date settings."

  Make sure the clock in your phone is set to the current date, as the applications certificates are valid during a specific time frame only.
