OpenForum Europe Summit - Engine of Growth: Harnessing the Power of IT through Collaborative Open Innovation.
OFEGovernments struggle to agree on a road map toward prosperity and a more competitive Europe. How best to bring growth and innovation back into the economy? Can the IT industry offer an engine of growth? And if yes, how can Europe capitalise on it?
The OpenForum Europe Summit 2012 will challenge current thinking on both government and industry level and will highlight the potential of collaborative open innovation for Europe. As successfully shown with Open Source, Open Data and now Cloud Computing, improved networking, greater collaboration and an inclusive approach to solution building, going beyond Henry Chesbrough's idea of Open Innovation, can be a change maker.
Neelie Kroes
Vice President of the European Commission The European Commissions Digital Agenda ensures trust and security for the Internet and new technologies as well as competitive communications. Innovation is a key aspect for the Digital Agenda and Ms Kroes will provide a insight view on the European Commissions thinking of how to make Europe more innovative and competitive. Timely, the Digital Agenda is also posed to publish its European Cloud Strategy in the days leading up to the Summit and we believe it will provide ample grounds for additional discusson during the conference and one can hope for some comments from Ms Kroes.
Mitchell Baker
Chairman Mozilla Foundation Mozilla's move to enter the consolidating mobile operating system market with a fully open source operating system that has the support from key network operators such as Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia and Sprint has raised high expectations. Can a fully open operating system challenge the market dominance of Apple's iOS and Google's Android systems? Can Mozilla succeed where Nokia, HP and Reasearch in Motion failed? Mitchell Baker, Chairman of Mozilla Foundation, will share her thinking on collaborative open innovation and how it can make a difference for Europe.
