Unwanted videos appearing on our PDPs

If you're seeing videos appear on your Product Detail Pages (PDPs) that you didn't explicitly configure, this is likely due to Automatic video distribution by SKU. This feature automatically matches videos to products based on their SKU (Product Reference).

Why This Happens​

Bambuser's automatic video distribution feature is designed to automatically populate playlists with videos that are linked to products matching the SKU found on the current page. This happens when:

  1. Your <bam-playlist> element doesn't have the query="none" attribute
  2. Videos in your workspace are linked to products with matching SKUs
  3. The Product Scraper successfully retrieves the Product Reference from your PDP

While this automation is helpful for many use cases, you may want to disable it if you prefer to manually control which videos appear on specific pages.

Solution: Disable Automatic Distribution​

To prevent automatic video distribution from populating your playlists, add the query="none" attribute to your <bam-playlist> element.

Example:

When to Use query="none"​

Use query="none" when you want to:

  • Manually control video selection: You want to use static playlists with specific videos via the video-ids attribute
  • Prevent automatic matching: You don't want videos to automatically appear based on product SKUs

When query="none" is set, you can still manually assign videos to playlists using the video-ids attribute.
